ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
I am an educator, a mother, a Christian, a reader, and a lifelong learner. I have been teaching for 28 years. Most of my experience is in teaching fourth grade, but I have taught all grade levels from Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. What subjects? Everything! While I enjoy teaching every subject, my favorite is Language Arts because I. LOVE. TO. READ!!!
My first twenty years as an educator were all at the elementary level. I always said that I would NEVER teach middle school. However, when I decided to move away from Houston and its over-crowded streets, I was offered a job teaching eighth grade. With some trepidation, I took the position. Guess what? I loved it! Life is funny like that.
Now I'm back in Houston teaching at Tanglewood Middle School in the Houston Independent School District near the Galleria. Tanglewood is an IB, or International Baccalaureate School. I currently work with struggling readers with the goal of getting every student at or above grade level. I may have avoided middle school for twenty years, but there is no place else that I would like to be.
Please contact me at angela.harrison@houstonisd.org if you have any questions about an assignment or need help in any way.
